Play like

Name a song. Get its sound.

Pick your instrument, then type a song, an artist or a sound you like. NowDSP sets up the effects for it, with a preset for each part of the song, so you tap Intro, Verse and Chorus as you play.

01

Name it

Your instrument, then a song, an artist, or a sound in your own words: "a dreamy shoegaze wall".

02

Get the rig

The effects with their sliders set, and a preset for each part of the song.

03

Play through it

Tap a preset to switch. Change anything and it is kept in the preset that's lit.

All in one

One digital processor. Everything in it.

65 effects that would otherwise fill a pedalboard. Tap Original to hear the plain recording, then tap an effect: it switches over while it plays, so you hear exactly what changes.

Drive and grit

From a warm, singing overdrive to a snarling wall of fuzz and the heavy, scooped chug of 90s nu-metal: the sound of the rock records you grew up with.

Fuzz, Cab simulator, Amp tone stack, and more…

Space and echo

Put your sound in a cathedral, a canyon or a dream. Echoes that answer you, reverb that shimmers like a choir or splits into a crystal halo and a dark abyss, delays that play backwards.

Reverb, Tape echo, Freeze, and more…

Movement

Make it swirl, sway and pulse: the lush wobble of an 80s chorus, a jet plane’s whoosh, the spinning speaker of an old organ, the talking wah of funk, a trance-gate stutter.

Tremolo, Uni-vibe, Vowel filter, and more…

Octaves, organ and whammy

Play one guitar and sound like three: a bass and a bell under every note, a rock organ that holds every chord, or bend the whole thing an octave up and back down like a whammy pedal.

12-string, Bass synth, Sub octave, and more…

Pitch and voice

Sing higher than you can, turn your voice into a robot choir, snap every note into tune like a pop record, or sound like a 1930s radio.

Harmonizer, Formant shift, Doubler, and more…

And everything else

Everything that makes it sound finished: an amp tone stack and speaker cabinet, EQ, compressors, and clean-up that removes hum, hiss and noise.

And for more than guitar: a real wooden body for a violin or an acoustic on a pickup, a whole string section, a 12-string, a synth you play with your bass or your breath, and a second voice that sings harmony with you.

See all 65 effects

Stack them in any order, and drag them around while you play.

Open formulas

The actual processing, right at your fingertips.

Every effect is a few lines of maths you can read. Open one, change it, and hear the difference while you keep playing. Read the reference: the formula language, all 65 effects and every slider.

01

Change any effect

Open the formula behind any effect and rework how it sounds. Its sliders keep their settings.

02

Make your own

Start from a blank effect and write it from scratch. Every #param line becomes a slider.

03

Copy the whole chain

Your entire chain is plain text. Copy it, paste it into another browser or device, or share it with your band.

Hey! Can you make me a highly personalized effect that I can use on realtimeaudio.app?

We've already seen some quite personal ones 😅

Multi-device

Every device joins. One workspace.

Share and other devices join with a short code. In the browser they control and watch your workspace. With the app, any input on any device: your phone with the guitar plugged in, the laptop with the mic, the singer's phone running the vocals, the sound sent straight between the apps.

01

Share

Tap Share, in the browser or the app, and it shows a short code.

02

Join

Other devices type the code at realtimeaudio.app/join, or scan it: in the app, or any browser.

03

Play

With the apps, plug in anywhere: every rig takes its input from any device and runs on the app you share from, or on the app its input comes from.

See where the sound goes

The Routing panel shows every device in the workspace, its inputs and outputs, which rig runs where, and how the sound travels: solid on a device, dashed over the network. The wires move with the sound. Tap any block to switch it on or off.

Rigs

Several rigs. One device.

Run several rigs at once, each with its own input and its own effects, mixed together.

01

Add a rig

Guitar and vocals each get their own chain, from one two-input interface.

02

Mix it

Its own volume, mute, and a double tap to hear just that one.

03

Chain them

Feed one rig into another: two sounds in parallel, or one after the other.

Pedals and looper

Stomp on it. Loop it. Play over it.

Switch to Pedals and every effect in your chain becomes a big tile you can hit mid-song. The Looper records in whole bars, so you can build a backing and play on top.

01

Tap to switch

One tap turns a pedal on or off. Switches like record, hold or speed sit on the tile as round buttons.

02

Loop in whole bars

Set the bars and the tempo. Recording starts and stops on the bar line, so the loop never drifts.

03

Layer on top

Every pass adds to what's there. Erase clears it, and the metronome ticks only in your ears, never in the loop.

Tools

Everything to shape and keep your sound.

Everything around the effects that makes dialling in a sound quick, and keeps it for next time.

01

See your sound

The scope and spectrum show what you play. Switch to the chain's response to see what your effects do to it.

02

Find your sound

Search by name, instrument or style: type shoegaze, grunge or jazz and get the effects for it.

03

Keep your setup

Every rig, effect and slider stays in your browser for next time, and saves or shares as one file.

Plug in. Play.

Playing through a computer shouldn't be a project.

Every time you want to plug an instrument into a computer, it turns into a project. NowDSP skips all of it: open the page and you're playing.

01

Plug in

Into your laptop's or phone's input, or any USB audio interface. Guitar pickups get their tone restored automatically.

02

Open NowDSP

In any modern browser. It learns your hiss and hum to remove them.

03

Play

Stack effects, drag them into order, and hear every change instantly, while you keep playing.

Wherever you play

No pedalboard to carry, nothing to install on a borrowed machine. The same processor on your laptop, tablet and phone, and your setup is still there next time.

On the road

A laptop or a phone and a cable. Practise in a hotel room, warm up backstage.

On stage

Realtime on the audio thread, stereo, sample-accurate. The native apps go down to about 12 ms.

At home

Plug straight into your computer, see what you play on the scope and spectrum, and dial in your sound.

Eight things for the best sound

  • Keep the NowDSP tab open. The sound runs in that tab, so leave it open while you play.
  • Allow microphone access. Your browser asks for it: that is how your instrument gets in.
  • Avoid Bluetooth. Wireless headphones and speakers add a delay you can hear.
  • Use a USB audio interface. It keeps hum and hiss out of your signal.
  • Use a guitar cable. Plugged straight in sounds best.
  • Use wired headphones or a line out. To hear yourself without a delay.
  • Use Chrome, Edge or Safari. They process audio fastest.
  • Close other tabs and apps. So NowDSP gets all the processing power.

Native apps

Want it tighter? Go native.

The browser version is free, with every effect: up to four at a time in each rig, an hour every 12 hours. The app also unlocks your browser, with no limits. But a browser can only get so close to your audio hardware. When every millisecond counts, on stage or in the studio, the NowDSP app talks to your hardware directly.

In the browser

≈ 40 ms

Every effect, free, four at a time in each rig. Great for practising, trying sounds and jamming at home.

In the app

≈ 12 ms

Direct access to your audio hardware, so it feels as immediate as a pedal. Same effects, same screen.

Your whole rig, in your pocket.

  • 🎸On stage: the laptop sits by the amp, your phone runs the show.
  • 🎚️Hand it over: the sound engineer or your bandmate mixes from their own phone.
  • 🛋️At home: the PC plays, you tweak from the couch.

🔒 Any network: only the controls pass through our server, never your sound. No account, nothing to install.
